I have two LaCie 320GB Big Disk Extreme drives hooked up to a MBP via FW400.

When copying from one encrypted disk image to another (both on the same drive), I sometime get a knock sound as if I have shut off the drive. Finder than hangs for maybe 10 seconds and the drive starts writing again. The files I am copying are several hundred MB.

This never happens copying from the internal MBP HD to the FW drive.

Thoughts?

10.4.6

I am looking for a 1TB drive now and considering the Lacie Bigger Disk Extreme.

How reliable is this - not too happy with the ones I have now asuming it is a LaCie and not OS issue.
