I know I am...

This thing was built for me, I keep all my Mp3 library (all 4.5 gigs of it) on my main computer at home (a G4/400), but none on my PB G3 at work (lack of space). So when I'm at work I can only listen to CDs. With the iPod I can (finally) listen to anything I want either at work, or in the gym...

So... who else is getting one? By know we all know there are those who loved it, and those who hate it, I'm interested to see how many people will actually buy one.

I noticed that you can pre-order from Outpost.com for $395.. I usually get anything I can from there due to the low price for shipping (used to be free overnight!) and no tax (at least shipped to Illinois!)..

I think I'm going to order mine from there.. I may wait to see if they're "officially" going to be at the Apple Store at Woodfield on Nov. 10.. If so, I'll pick one up there..

XRA,
I ordered mine from the Apple Store about an hour after the site was back up. It'll be interesting to see if they ship them just before or after the 10th when they'll be in the Apple stores... the 3-4 weeks time on the Apple Store puts it at 11/13/2001 for the 3 week mark and 11/20/2001 for the 4 week mark. I'm hoping to get a "Saturday Delivery" on the 9th... wouldn't that be cool? It won't happen but it would be cool.

I'll be getting mine straight from one of the Apple retail stores as soon as it's released (and as soon as I can scrape the cash together).

I'll be buying one the instant they're available at the local Apple Store in Peabody (I'm assuming they'll have some Nov. 10, but I'd better reserve one!)

Nope, not I. After a $150 dollar drop (because its not worth it to me, not because i have a problem with the money, and because I'd rather but a PS2) and once I see Apple's master plan for this new peripheral line..... THEN I will get one.

iPod does sound pretty cool. Although there was one other MP3 player I was thinking about. It was in the shape of a normal audio cassette so you could just insert it into a tape player (like in the car) with out wires and such running everywhere and it would play your MP3s. But what I wanted to say is why not just wait one or two months before buying?? What do you think the price drop will be if Macworld comes around and they've still got these on their shelves? OR another way of putting it; How much is it worth to you to wait? $100.00? $200.00? Basically you will be making that much if you wait for the price to drop, right? I'd rather have this or the next generation of it for $100.00 - $200.00 less. You all know this, look at the PowerBooks and iBooks. Better and cheaper, what about 6 or less months later? My point is if we stick together the price will drop faster than if we don't. If we stick together we could have our first disscount before X-mas. That would be nice. lol Would you spend $200.00 more to get it today??

Ordered two. (one for me and one for the girlfriend)

Did it through the Apple store but might consider changing that to Outpost considering I can save $80 in taxes.

No. Can't justify spending four bills on an MP3 player (sadly, I am probably willing to risk spending $10 on a couple of tickets for the MacRaffle iPod drawing, but that's just my BigGame ticket money, anyways).

going to wait for iPod 2 when storage will be bigger, cheaper, and have more functions.

I already have a Lacie 20GB Firewire/USB Minidrive so I can't really justify the storage factor. So I would be left with a 500$ MP3 player (cost here in Europe).

I would rather get an MP3 add-on for my Nokia phone that has FM Radio and 32MB of space for just enough music for when I go to work and the such... and it costs about 400$ less.

..I wanted to add... I've been waiting for Apple to do something about the music situation on a Mac. I never like the hassel of the MP3 players, transfering MB or burning to CD. It's too much work to go through to enjoy a couple hours of music. I also thought, Why does Sony have to be the only one to come out with all the cool devices? (That only work with Win) I heard that Phil was asked when a compatable Windows version will be on the market. Personnal, I hope never. Apple can now do the same thing Sonys been doing for years.

Grazie mille, Apple!

Just ordered my iPod today! Got the education discount which makes the price US$369.99. I selected 2 day FedEx so $5.00 extra. Making the total US$374.99. :] No sales taxes here in the great state 'O Delaware! ;] Says 3-4 weeks. I hope that is an over estimation but we'll see! Can't wait!

Was thinking if getting one for Christmas, but with a price tag of £350 which is just over $500 I think I'll wait and see if the price drops.

I'm going to wait and listen to folks views once they get the iPOD. Then I'll think about the price tag.

Does anyone know if the iPOD comes with one years warranty in the UK?

I pre-ordered mine from Outpost to save on shipping and tax.

I have had a Rio 500 for about 2 years, and I love it, but even after upgrading it only holds 128Mb, and cost (including the 64Mb smart card) $350.00. Since it can only hold about 2 cd's worth of music I still have to lug about 20 cd's back and forth to work every day. Not for much longer though.

While the iPod will only hold about 1/3rd of my MP3 collection, I still find the value totally worth the price. I mean after all, the iPod only costs about eight cents per megabyte - I mean, it's practically free!!!
