I've finally had it with my piece of CR@P inkjet and I want to get a sub £100 mono laser. A lot don't seem to be Mac compatible - can anyone recommend me one?
I've never hated a technology more than inkjets!

Actually I wouldn't recommend a sub-€150 laser printer. For €150, you can get a Brother HL-2040 which has Mac drivers. I would definitely not go lower than that, otherwise you'd replace a crappy inkjet with a crappy laser printer.

I've just found that printer for £95 - any idea how much toner is for it? Thanks.

I love my HL-2040, though we do seem to have an issue with using it on a network print server. It works fine printing from a Mac, but it spits out two blank pages after each job-which it doesn't do printing from a PC.
I got my printer for about $85 before a $20 rebate (which just happened to come in today!), so it was VERY reasonably priced. Toner is another matter-the cartridges are not cheap. However, if you shop around you can probably get a decent deal. A quick scan just now (just searching for "HL-2040" and "toner") got me prices as low as $29 for a toner cartridge.

I have a Brother HL-2070N. Bonjour-enabled ethernet networking. Works very well and reasonably inexpensive.

Although I would suggest a printer with more brains, i. e. Postscript support. That way, you will never ever have to think about whether your printer is compatible and the built quality of the printer (due to the higher price) is also much better.

You could get a second-hand Apple LaserWriter Select 360 off of eBay. I'm very happy with the one I've got.

HP Laserjet 1020, says it isn't mac compatible on the box, however works flawlessy and all features available. Inexpensive, and surprised me in quality.

I have been happy with my brother hl-1450 and plan on getting a newer model brother as soon as the toner runs out in this one.
