Here in Belgium (and in all of Europe) they are pricing the iPod at 459Euro

Here, with taxes (astounding 21%... thieves) it amounts to shy of 500$ (492$).

I just love how everyone outside of the USA gets d!cked over with electronics.

Dammit. Its like the TiBook. I actually still save money if I were to fly to the USA, buy a TiBook, and come back. How pathetic is that?

It's not our fault apple is in the US. Look at cars, the skyline for example, we get it imported here and it cost twice as much.

Actually, I'd much rather eat space cakes and do bong hits at the Bulldog Cafe and pay higher taxes that I know aren't being absorbed by blatant cronyism than get electronics for lower prices.
20" iMac G5! :D AND MacBook 1.83GHz!
Canon Digital Rebel Kit + 75 - 300mm lens. Yum Yum! :D
Check out my OS X Musical Scales program

<sarcasm>God almighty.

Yes. They are all socialist evil-doers who hate freedom. Those damned Europeans. I tell you. Good for nothing.</sarcasm>

<sarcasm>Oh. Sorry. I bow down to your amazing powers of persuasion.</sarcasm>

I've got two legs, thank you very much.

Shall we talk about Europe? Please? Can we? Socialism's been such an abysmal failure there....

Cheers

Lets.

The UK's state run health care system is so wonderful that Britts come to the United States for life saving procedures because their health care is of such poor quality. Socialism at work.

And lets not forget the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics. Productivity soared under that system. Socialism at work.

I wonder where you live? I wonder how you would feel about 21% sales tax on an iPod, computer, car, etc. I also wonder how you would feel knowing that the bureaucrats you were paying that money too would only spend it in the most efficient and necessary of means.

Care to back that up? One can only imagine what would happen if all the Brits (one "t," you should note) started coming over here for their shots....

Oh. Let's not. Lord knows that the USSR is the pinnacle of socialist politics. Yes. We should always look to the USSR when we talk about socialism. Let's not talk about China's economy. No. We should avoid China. Yes. We shall not talk about China's "struggling" economy. And what was that that just happened in US/China relations? Oh. Nevermind. We won't talk about it.

I wonder where you live?

I live in Oklahoma. I wonder where you live? Oh. Sorry. You haven't registered. Sorry. Guess I'll never know.

I feel fine with it. The issue you're raising is not what gadget I'm willing to pay a higher tax for so much as it is whether or not I'm willing to pay for government services that I feel are an obligation I have to those who didn't start out in the same socio-economic position I did. (NB: not that I started out in all that great of a socio-economic position....) I figure if we're going to live in a system that necessitates an underclass, we ought to do something to keep them from starving to death.

I have this incredible urge to point out that Bush is the millionaire son of his father, who was a millionaire well before he was director of the CIA, US liaison to China, and VP. Wasn't he a senator, as well? Wasn't his FATHER a senator from Connecticut?

But I won't point that out.

Yes. I agree with you. The beaurocrats I pay my tax dollars to don't spend it in the most efficient and necessary means. No. Really. They don't.

And WHAT company just got the bazillion dollar military contract? Which of our political officials have oil interests? Didn't Colin Powell have $13 million in AOL stock before his SON was one of the people who OKd the merger with Time/Warner? And who's the chairman of the FCC now?

I could go on and on, but it's 2:00 A.M. here in OKLAHOMA. Yes. Imagine that. I disagree with you and I live in America.

Cheers
Scott

Healthcare aside, we do pay way over the odds for some things here in the UK. If I wanted to buy an iPod it would cost me £350 which is just over $500!!!!
