EQ or Bass Boost on iPod?

I'm of course very interested in an iPod, but have seen no mention on the Apple site or elsewhere about a bass boost and/or eq function on the unit.

Does anybody (particularly Sal the developer who has one) know if the iPod has either of these functions?

It would seem to me a gross oversight if it does not.
