I have just inhereited a Sun monitor, model GDM-17E10, and I want to know whether or not this will work on my Mac, a 6500/300.

The problem is that it doesn't have a "normal" connector, and so I cannot check whether it works or not without finding an adapter. The connector is called a 13W3 connector and it looks like you can get adapters that switch it to an HD15 connector. But is this all I need?

Will the monitor work on my mac with only this connector or do I need a different type of video card? Furthermore, will I need any special type of monitor profile for the system folder or will the Mac recognise it right away?

Is there anyone out there who has any experience running a Sun Monitor on a Mac?

Never used one myself, but check out the Apple TIL article listed below pertaining to display connectors. It may help.

Thanks for the information Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a connector listed that would suit the Sun Monitor that I have

I find it hard to believe that there are no Unix geeks out there who have tried to hook a Sun display up to their mac!

Can anyone give me some advice concerning this?

You should try Griffin Technologies, the folks that make the iMate and the iMic. They've specialized in hooking Macs to different types of stuff for a long time.
He can be fixed -- you can't.
