Hi,
I'm looking into a 19" monitor.
What do you people recommend?
Why are the resolutions posted for macs always less and smaller?
Any advice, user experience, recommendation accepted. It will be to use with my soon to be mine G4.

Thanx!

Hi,
You may find the resolutions on Macs for the monitors are smaller, but this is, however, not the case. For example, you can still run 1280x1024 if the monitor only recommends 1152x768. You can be quite relaxed over the problem.
I would recommend three monitors to your choice.
A. Sony G400
A high-priced monitor, with the brand name of Sony. Quite good indeed but the resolution may not be as good when you really take a look at it. You would only find that the monitor spots rather the same resolution as some 17" CRT did. The refresh rate is fine, up to 85hz. According to the data I have in hand, the price is much higher when compared with other monitors that have the same resolution.

B. Mitsubishi PLUS91
A great monitor. Diamontron is a good one, but the pixels are sparse when compared with Sony or Hitachi..... High-priced either, you can take a look at it.

C. Hitachi CM772, with a choice of white or black
My choice. I am using a Hitachi 17" CRT(CM625) curently and am very satisfied with the monitor. High resolution, 1600x1280@85hz, finer pixels(0.22mm dots pitch), much lower price. (At least in Hong Kong) Sony costs you around six thousnads in Hong Kong, but a Hitachi counterpart would only cost you three. What you need to do is to check whether a Hitachi is available in your area
You may go for EIZO if you are rich enough, want to have a higher refresh rate instead of better resolution........
Hope this can help you in making your decision

I too have a Hitachi 19in. monitor, the CM715, and have been very happy with it. I got mine for about $330 US. It was one of the cheapest I found and was certainly above average quality.
