My iMac came with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I decided to switch to a three-button mouse temporarily (but keep the wireless keyboard). However, when I turn the computer on, the third-party mouse does not work, and the Bluetooth setup assistant launches and gets me to put my bluetooth mouse on, which I do not want.

I have tried deleting the entry for the Bluetooth mouse in the pref pane, but this does not help.

The third-party mouse is a USB Packard Bell. I have tried two of this model.

The only way I can get the mouse to work is to remove it from the USB port, then turn off the Bluetooth mouse, then put it back in the USB port.

How can I make it 'Just Work'?
