I have a Palm Vx with the standard serial-cradle connection and I want to connect it with my new iBook when it FINALLY gets here. (Actually I think it was onboard that Fed-Ex plane that Tom Hanks was riding in "Castaway.") I am looking for a more elegant and cheaper solution than buying the Mac USB kit from Palm. Does anyone know of a third-party solution that is compatible with Mac? I know Targus makes a nice one but it's pricey and I'm not sure whether it works with Mac OS.
Thanks...

Wow -- Anyone have any experience if that is Mac compatible? This thing looks like a god send. Get's that bulky/ugly/slow (take your pick) charger off the desktop, free up a power outlet, and... well, i don't remember the keyspan being cheap. It's my solution at work now, though it's really an eyesore. If you're going to spend 30, spend 20 more and get something that will make you happy. IMHO.
Here's the link for the targus adapter.

Looking around, it seems to be only supported under windows. I'm writing to them to see if there are mac drivers coming out. I'll post the reply here.

The Keyspan works just fine with iMacs (or any USB Mac). I have one running with the IBM Workpad (Palm Vx clone) on an iMac.

I also recommend the Keyspan PDA adapter.

from Targus Technical Support:
We have had requests for compatibility with MAC and our engineers have been made aware of the requests. However, at this time, we have not had any feedback on whether or not a MAC driver will become available. Generally, new product announcements and significant compatibility updates are announced on our web-site (the public knows about the same time that Technical Support does), so I would recommend that you visit every few months or so to see if a MAC driver has become available.
Too bad... that thing is sweeeeet, and at a fraction of the weight/size/demands of the cradle... dang. How hard can it be to write a driver???
