I have 2 LaCie external Big Disk Extreme d2 320GB drives. They are hooked to my MBP with FW400 and to each other with FW800 (since they each have only 1 FW400 port.

I store video and other large files on the. Often when scrubbing through a video I will hear the HD knock as if it is parking and then VLC, QTPlayer or whatever will stop responding for about 5-10 seconds and then resume just fine.

It is as if I am overloading the drives with read commands and they choke.

Anyone seen this? It didn't happen on my PBG4 1.67 AlBook.

Thanks,

Trygve
