iMac rev.b/ 160 Megs Ram/ 8.6 / Sony Spressa USB Plus / Toast 4

Toast says it's supported in the "read me's", could some one who's using this type of set up tell me exactly which set of extensions they are using. I've read all the other posts about the Spressa, and can't seem to get it working. I keep getting the warning message about another driver being installed. It works fine with the Discribe software that shipped with it. But, I use Toast on another machine(at work), and I just prefer it. TIA

I am running an iMac rev B/96 megs ram/9.0. I used to use my burner under 8.6 though. Toast 4.0 and the Sony Spressa are a buggy combination at best. However, it still blows away Discribe. I just burned 4 cds last night with Toast, though, only to find that my computer wouldn't recongize the drive today. This was frustrating. I ended up having to turn on toast, turn off my burner, then turn the Spressa back on again. After doing this, Toast would recognize the drive again. You may need to try and fiddle around the Spressa like that.
As for my extensions:
Toast USB Shuttle Bridge
Toast USB ShuttleIn Bridge
Toast USB Support
I'm not sure if you need anything else installed. I'd be willing to try and help, but let me know what extensions and such you are already using. Mind you, even if you get Toast to recognize the drive, you will still have problems when burning some disks. I can explain a few if you'd like. Just let me know.

I don't know how you can say Toast "blows away Discribe". I've used both with my spressa and have found that Discribe is rock solid and consistently gives me perfect burns. Toast 4.0, on the other hand, doesn't give me true disc at once (still leaves tiny gaps between tracks) and doesn't close off the cd very well as it causes my cd player to skip when it reaches the end of the cd. The ONLY advantage I see in Toast is that it writes 80 minute cdrs and Discribe doesn't...yet. Other than that, Discribe has an easier way of extracting audio as it's built into the program instead of being seperate like TAE is. Discribe is just, all around, more solid than toast. It may not have as many catchy features (like the anti-popping feature Toast just added) but the features it has work perfectly.

According to the tech support folks I spoke with, Toast 4.0 does NOT yet support the USB Spressa, but they're working on an update. Of course that was six weeks ago...
