I recently acquired Fujitsu FireWire M-O drives for my PowerBook (WallStreet) and my iMac DV. Using a FireWire Cardbus on the PB, the drive works flawlessly. On the iMac, however, I'm encountering a problem. Without using external power the drive reads disks only if I unplug and replug the drive after *each* disk. With the power source being used, it will read disks one after the other after I unplug and replug in the drive. After each boot or restart I must do the unplug-plug shuffle to get the drive to be recognized so it will read disks. I have called Fujitsu support, and they claim they've never heard of such a problem and are going to get back to me (haven't as yet, however) after their engineers ponder the problem.
Anyone out there having similar problems? Any suggestions?

The only thing i can think of is the PCMCIA card probably installed the latest FireWire extensions (2.2.2). Verify those are on the iMac. I've had problems with FireWire on the DV's with my CD-RW. They are kinda quirky. I know thats not much help.
I didn't even know what a nuclear pannerplant was!
