Wrong Title... but can't edit.

I'm in the market for a USB hub. I ran out of USB ports because I bought everything to connect on USB. I was unplugging/plugging devices but lately that kind of made me tired. But is there actually a good USB hub? Or are they all the same... Are people having any problems with theres?

John

from what i have read, the main differences between hubs is a.) is it a powered hub (people will say you don't need this unless you have a lot of peripherals...i say shell out the extra $$$) and b.) does it have activity lights...you need to SEE if the port/plug is working immediately.

macnn's review area rated a hub recently, i think, at *****, but you'll need to check.

hope that helps...

Heh, you got to this post before I could recommend our reviews, I assume!

Hubs are generally all the same... I have yet to come accross a "bad" hub.

Having said that, we've actually reviewed a bunch of hubs... check out our complete listing of reviews and scroll down to hardware.

My favorites? XLR8's IceView because it offers the most functonality, TechWorks' PowerHUB because it looks the coolest, and Entrega's 7-port hub because it's a very compact 7-port hub, and they're aren't many 7 port hubs out there.

You might also want to consider the Targus Mobile Mini-Hub, especially if you have an i- or Powerbook. It's really small.

I’m a long time Mac user, owner and secretary of a local Mac User Group (MacMAD). I also work at the local CompUSA and sell Macs and peripherals for them. I use an Belkin 7 port hub and recommend them to my customers without any complaints to date.
