My iPod is about 6 months old and the best battery life I can get is about 2 hours per use. I have heard rumors that the warranty of the iPod was secretly extended to a one year warranty. anyone know if this is the case?

if not, any suggestions on getting my battery life back

I've read around the web that at some Apple Stores, if you take the iPod to the Genius Bar for them to check out, they may be able to help you. I'm not sure about low battery, but I've read that some people with dead iPods have been able to get free replacements even out of warranty. It appears that your closest store is in Willow Bend (somewhere in/near Dallas?) so you can probably swing by and see what they can do for you there. No clue about a secret extending of the warranty, only thing I know of about a one year warranty is that people in the EU get a one year warranty on the iPod because of some law.

I would definitely take it to an Apple Store if possible. I had the same problem with my iPod and took it to the Apple Store in Columbus, where they simply replaced it. My warranty had officially expired, although only two days before. I've read (I think in this forum, actually) of people taking their iPods in a good deal after their warranty expired and still getting replacements, basically because there were so many issues with the first batch of iPods and their batteries. I know that's not a real solid tesimonial, but it's definitely worth a shot...

Update, I finally took my machine in Saturday to the local Apple store. I had purchased the machine on Superbowl Sunday so I was way out of warranty. They simply set up a repair in the system and handed me a new iPod. I would say this confirms any rumors of extended warranty on these machines.

Thank you apple

I'm having the same exact problem on my 3+ month old iPod! ARGHHH!!!! So, what exactly should I bring to the Apple Store? Just the iPod? Reciept? Box?

Does anyone know if this issue is more-or-less gone in the new batches?
