I am a newly converted Mac user. My first computer (ever) was mac with a 6" monitor.

After years of abuse from my old (now buried) PC, I have come back to reside in my true home; the home of MAC.

However, remnants or my PC past remain...ick. My wife and kids are still trudging along on PC's and the computer network (in our house) is all PC. With that, there is only one printer, connected to a PC that is utilized throughout the house. My problem is, that I have not found a way to access that printer through "THEIR" network, and I cannot purchase another at this time. It is a newer Canon printer, for what it's worth. My question is, is there a utility, program or magic spell that will allow me to use the printer tied to the PC network with my brand spanking new MacBook Pro?

I know, after shelling out 3k for a laptop, what's another 150.00 for a printer?
But that is the issue, it was my last bit o' cash, and though I am truly happy with my new mac, I can't spend any more...

Any ideas on how I can use this same printer without disconecting it from the PC (blasphemy) network?

Cheers!

:moving to peripherals, where questions about peripherals go:

If you turn on Printer Sharing in Windows, you should be able to access it from the Mac. Google should be able to find instructions for how to find it, or someone here can.

Alternatively, get a small ethernet or Wi-Fi print server (parallel or USB port, depending on what the printer needs), which will share the printer to all the computers, and not require a computer to stay on to host the printer.
