Hello folks,

I was at Best Buy today seeking a new QuickCam-like device for my computer. I liked my old QuickCam VC USB model, but it was too old for my tastes (so I gave it to my dad). I know I can get 640 x 480 on most cameras today for stills and video at 15 fps at that size and half the size gives double the fps. This is what I am looking for.

Then I discovered something at BB which surprised me - a QuickCam Traveler (and two other nearly identical types of cameras from IBM and Intel, I believe) which not only does the above stuff, but also has an internal drive which lets you take digital pictures (and video? not sure on that one) like a regular camera, while not connected to the machine, and then download them to the machine.

Sounded great! just what I wanted and much cheaper than a reglar digital camera and camcorder without the extras I don't need... like high quality (for now).

But they only work with Windows - not the Mac, even though they are USB!

Can anyone recommend a USB or Firewire camera that takes video and stills when hooked up to a computer, and takes stills when separate, and maybe even video when separate, without costing more than $150 (like all three cameras at BB, which were $150) AND IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE MAC? And possibly more important - which will have updated drivers and software for OS X?

Any info can help - thanks.

-Scott
