plugged into the computer and which ones will be fine on the hub?

This is what I'm planning on doing:
keyboard: plugged into computer
mouse: plugged into computer (has to be because of desk I use - unless I get a USB extension cable)
zip: plugged into keyboard port
isub: plugged into keyboard port
scanner: hub
palm cradle: hub
printer: hub

I have heard the isub works best if plugged directly into the computer, is this true? I don't have the scanner, or isub yet, so I want to get this figured out before I get them.

Thanks.

you seem to have not mentioned where you were thinking about plugginh in the hub. with that many periphs, you need at least a 4-port (note also powered ports are strongly recommended)
I would suggest:
iSub in one port on computer
hub in other port on comp
Zip, scanner, printer in hub
keyboard in hub
mouse and palm cradle in keyboard

I know you said that you need to plug the mouse into the computer. giving a whole port to the mouse is really a waste of a port in terms of bandwidth. I assume you probably will not be scanning, printing, and writing to Zip at the same time, so no problem there. But the iSub really needs steady bandwidth to perform cleanly.
I don't know what your workspace looks like, but here are some things to maybe try for the mouse if the keyboard doesn't work:
if you have a second port in your zip drive, plug it in there
plug it into the hub and move one of the other devices (probably Zip drive) to keyboard
use a USB extension cable
get two hubs, plug each into a port on the computer.
connect the iSub and mouse to the first
connect everything else to the other as described above

hope this helps!
