A friend is looking for a fast reliable CDRW for his business. He will need to burn large data files (images mostly). It is my understanding that both Firewire and SCSI will deliver the info to the drive faster than the drive can write it. So, is there any advantage to going SCSI over Firewire?
Also, he will want as fast a CDR as possible. I know the 20x and 24x (?) dirves are just starting to show up. Which of these is the most stable, reliable?

FW is fast enough to throughput an entire cd in about 13 seconds.
SCSI has had many incarnations, at various speeds. it's now more than three times as fast as FW.
the advantage of SCSI is that you can use it on more older machines. the advantage of FW is that you can use it on more newer machines. and on more pc's. in terms of speed, no difference at all. versions of SCSI slower than tomorrow's fastest burners would be only on computers that don't have FW.

Why would you want SCSI when Mac's have not had it for years?

SCSI has ZERO advantages over FireWire when it comes to CD-burning.

FireWire is much much faster then any CD burner would ever need.

All depends on what machines you'll be using it with. Both offer equal performance for CD burning. SCSI is more readily accessible for older Macs and is forward-compatible (via an adapter) with non-SCSI Macs..
