Delkin have announced the availability of a portable picture viewer Delkin eFilm PicturePAD. What do people think are the chances of an Apple version of this, with Apple styling, iPod functionality, bit of iPhoto mixed in and a topping of digital video functionality?

Why not? I think the ipod could include this feature, if it had a colour LCD.

Dear lord that thing is big! Ugly also.
I don't know why you would want to look at pictures on that thing when you can just look at them on the camera that you took them on.

I was thinking exactly the same as Thompo when I saw this. Yes, the Delkin and the Nixvue are have appalling interfaces, which is why an enhanced iPod could be successful here.
I think Apple could market the iPod as a PDA, but not of the Palm/Pocket PC variety. Give the iPod new software, a colour screen and a USB port, and it becomes a digital hub. Offload pic from your digicam while on holiday, offload video from your video cam while on a shoot, record an interview with a USB mic, browse the web with a USB keyboard or upload your pics with a USB bluetooth module.
A great alternative to lugging a computer with you.

That thing is so ugly. It looks like a remote control Batman would use in his BatCave from that stupid 70s Batman movie. If the screen had about twice the area and the device was about half as large as it is, then it MIGHT be okay... but it'd have to be shiny white plastic too. And it needs a Mac-like interface. And an Apple logo etched subtly into the back. It's starting to sound a bit like an iPod...

This unit, on the other hand, is pretty sweet.

The iPod is a com-pu-ter, it has an operating system. With a few changes it could be the best digital wallet out there, and given the copy protection which is spreading to more and more CDs, it needs this extra functionality.
