G3 Firewire Hard Drive Problems

I just got a firewire bridge case and a 75GB Deskstar, and when i plug it in, it comes up and asks me if i want to format it.
I say yes, but it says initializaiton failed.
Drive setup lists it as an unsupported drive, so I can't do anything to it from there.

Suggestions, fixes, shotguns

I need it working by Saturday, cuz OSX is going on my internal drive.

you should put OSX on the bigger faster HD if you can get it working, sorry don't know much about fire wire HD

OSX is going internal for now.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?
