I know the Firewiredepot Spark II FW/USB combo enclosure
is bootable, but it only takes 2.5" drives up to 9.5mm
in height and has one FW port. Megahaus has an $85 enclosure
that's not bootable.

I'm looking for two FW ports so I can possibly daisy-chain
more FW devices. I also want to eventually put my 12.5mm IBM
Travelstar 32GB in it when I move up to the 48GB internally.

So a summary of the features I look for:
- bootable
- takes 2.5" IDE drives up to 12.5mm
- 2 FW ports
- bus-powered, but prefer to have optionally AC adapter included

Anyone know where I can buy such an enclosure?

I bought this drive from www.fwdepot.com

SK 2.5 inch FireWire/USB 911 combo
Now Shipping - SK 2.5 FireWire/USB combo enclosure using the Oxford 911 chip.

It comes with 2 FW ports and 1 usb port and is bootable. The drive is also one of the smallest 2.5" ext enclosure that you can find. The picture does not do justice to the casing. It looks great and is actually a slightly darker blue-grey colour. Yes, it will take drives up to 12.5mm. Comes with a padded carrying pouch and one FW cable and one USB cable. Also comes with radialogic software on a CD. Excellent drivers. No ac adapter but it can be purchased as an option. However, I do not see a need for it.

The other option is the
SK 2.5 inch FireWire '911' The site indicates tthe following:
PRE-ORDER NOW - Arriving approx. June 15th. SK 2.5 FireWire enclosure using the Oxford 911 chip.

Rgds,
Benny

Hi,

I talked to Mike at www.transintl.com/ today and he said if I could wait about two weeks (after 4th of July) they will have the enclosures in with the Oxford 911 firewire chipset.

Call Mike about noise levels whether you want internal or external drives

They have been very informative and have the drives you are looking for.

Also they have the 512mb memory low profiles for Ti's to make a full giggle bite.

Is there a such thing as a USB-only external IDE hard drive enclosure? I've got a little 6 GB Maxtor that I'm not using and I'd like to put it to SOME use, but I can't install it in my tower, I don't want to spend the $$$ for FW on such a small drive, and I don't want to sell it unless I have to. I was hoping that a USB enclosure would be cheaper. Know of any? Thanks.
