Well, here's my problem. I have an ol' Performa 6115CD, a Beige 266Mhz G3 Minitower, a Dual 500mhz G4, and the ol' lady's iMac DV SE networked together, all machines at Mac OS 9 or 9.1. There is an Epson Stylus Color 600 printer hooked up to the G3, and all the other machines can use it via the application Epsonshare. I want to install Mac OS X on the G3 and G4, but Epsonshare will not work under that OS. It is very important that the wife be able to print from her iMac because she's a student. So the question is, is there some sort of adapter that will allow me to hook the printer up to the iMac? Should i just go get one of those new $79 Epson printers?
I already have 2 obsolete printers in here, and I don't especially want 4 of the things.
So, I leave it to you, the experts, what should I do?

If it were me, I'd eBay your misc. printers and get a networkable laserjet. You can get a new HP 1200 (N?) for about $500. Otherwise, try Apple's built it USB Printer Sharing C/P in OS 9.x. I use that to share a Stylus Photo 1270 w/ an iMac.
Cliff.

there are about half a dozen USB to serial adapters available, price range $60-90. search "usb serial adapter" at an online Mac vendor like MacMall.com

Hook up the iMac to the Epson 600 with a USB to parallel cable. Don't use one of those serial converters, because they don't work--and even don't claim to work with Epson. You can download the driver for this from Epson. Then you can use the serial port with another computer.

Of course, the cable will cost you money and with inkjets going for under $100---well. . . .
