This is my rendering of a Apple PDA. I drew it after being set off at Office Depo yesterday looking at pocket PCs. I think it is really stupid that they feel the need to put dozens of buttons on the front the there PDA. That is just rediculuse. I think a much better aproch would be to put no buttons on the front and do it all in software. This not only looks cooler it gives you about an inch of more of screen space in the same sized device, not to mention no moving parts. Then of course have built in Ink Well with support for drawing and text. On the side I put a little touch pad used to scroll up and down a page using the hand that dose not have the pen in it.

Click on the image to see a larger version as well as an animation of it in action.

I like this rendering.

But I would not recommand Apple to build a PDA
Itīs a waist of money to buy an electronic device that can only handle phone numbers, addresses and some specialized little programs. Thatīs why the sales of Palm-like PDAs go down.

What about a full-feature minimized iMac ? Call it PiMac (or <pi>Mac ;-)) for pocket iMac.

It should look like the rendering and support OS X (full version), a small 10 GB Harddisk, Ink-Handwriting recognition, Via Voice, USB Fire Wire ports an Airprt card and Bluetooth to connect to a digital camera, a cell phone, a printer and to exchange data with your full size Mac, a 56K Modem and Ethernet and a color display of course.

Imagine you do not need to work with downsized applications but instead you could use your normal Excel, Word ( use it with ink or via voice) iMovie and whatsoever apps. All this little personal programs that you devlop using Appleīs great Cocoa Development Tools would immediately run on this portable iMac.

Am I dreaming ? Maybe, but take a look at www.oqo.com Itīs not unrealistic.

O.K. Michaelm8000, you got me. I just so want one. When can I pick mine up? That is one super design, and a very slick animated demo. Imagine Steve coming onto the stage at MWNY and running the presentation from some "mystery tablet." At the end of the keynote, "Oh. And one more thing. This tablet is our newest product and available right now at the Apple Store."
