Anyone ever see a CD/R that has both the USB and FireWire interface?
I have a Rev.C loaded with digital pics that I want to archive. but I also like the idea of keeping the drive when I move on to a newer machine sometime in the next year.
Or should I just get the cheapest USB CD/R I can find (like that Iomega junk)?

The Iomega Predator is another one that has both (and USB 2.0, in the future). Right now, it comes only with a USB interface, but they're supposed to have available soon a firewire adapter for it. I don't know how much the adapter will cost, but I assume it won't be cheap ($75?).
The drive is 4 write, 4 re-write, and 6 (?) read in its USB incarnation, but when you use the firewire adapter, it's 8/4/24.
It's about $270.

You got the price right, but the Predator will be 8/4/32 when Iomega delivers the FireWire adapter. I've got one and it's really quite nice. It's very stable and burns all day at 4X. Another nice thing is that the drive is rather small and would transport easily. Both of my own computers are portable (Pismo 400 and iBook 366 FW) so that's important to me. But my secretary has an iMac with only USB. As yet, I haven't used it in the office but at least I have the software set up so I can.
I admit, there are compelling reasons to look at other drives so don't think I'm just dissing everything else out there. There are several other good choices. For me it came down to the fact that I've always gotten good products from Iomega, so I stayed with them. And I really do like the drive.

Well, I saw an ad for the Lacie 8x4x32 firewire drive yesterday, and it said in the features section - firewire & usb.
I assume it is a firewire connector with a usb adaptor as optional??
Gees, that would be a good buy if thats what it is. At $599 AUS - its only $65 more than the predator and is much better value than any other drive on the market ive seen. Not that I would use it for usb!
