Supposedly it can hold up to 384 MB of MP3s but I have not seen a memory pack greater than 32 MB for sale. Has anyone seen large memory packs for this player?

So far, only the 32MB (and possibly 64MB) backpacks have been released. Go to www.riohome.com for all the info on these items. The 340MB backpacks *should* be out within the next few months. Also, other backpacks using IBM microdrives and DataPlay discs have been rumored. Also, note that these backpacks are the same ones used for the Rio 800 as well.
Tip: To get more out of the Rio 600's memory, encode MP3s at a lower bit rate. For example, it can hold about 70 minutes of audio at 64k encoding and still sounds great (well, to me). Check the documentation/ help files for your mp3 application of choice for more info on mp3 encoding, bit rates, and the like.

Gorilla: The Rio 600 and 800 don't use any standard type of memory (Compact Flash, Smart Media, MMC, etc). They require special "backpacks" made by SONICblue (parent company of Rio).

64MB backpacks are out. The 340 MB backpack (bringing the total to 372, what Rio promised) should be out before summer, and is actually an IBM Microdrive and a rechargable battery.
