Just hooked up new Apple 17" flat panel to 466 G4 using ADC port on stock Radeon card. When I go to the Monitor Calibration Assistant, I can adjust gamma and the white point but the box to adjust the colors is grayed and "x'ed" out. No color correction. On my Samsung 170T, color correction worked fine with the same set-up but was run through VGA port. Have a 2nd LCD monitor running off a Radeon 7000 PCI card using VGA port and color calibration on it works fine. No help from Apple knowledge base and no documentation in box or on-line. Any suggestions?

In any case, did you install the drivers from the Apple Displays CD that you should have received with the display. While the 17" will work without installing the software, it's not completely supported (except for some of the latest X updates). I suspect this might be the case.

Using OS 9.1. Installed the software which came with display. When color correction did not work, I re-installed the software but that did not solve the problem. I have no problems with resolution or brightness but when I go to the Color icon and select any colorsync profile, in the Monitor Calibration Assistant box I can only adjust white point, and gamma, no color calibration. There is also no contrast setting that I can find. The monitor basically looks good and I have some slight color change ability by selecting a different profile from those which show up. Obviously, this is of no use for graphics and color artwork. thanks and I'm receptive to any suggestions.

AFAIK you cannot adjust the contrast of a monitor that is connected via DVI.

Get <a href="http://www.bergdesign.com/supercal/" target="_blank">SuperCal</a>, it will do the trick.

Many, many thanks. I got SuperCal and it did the trick. I must have bad karma though, cause the on-line manual and help features don't appear. Anyway, at least I can adjust the color and set profiles. Still find it strange the calibration feature didn't work in the Control panel/Monitors function.
