I have a VST SmartDisk CD burner that Toast Titanium 5 will not recognize on my G4 Desktop running OS 9.2.2. It is, however recognized on my G4 PowerBook by Toast Titanium 5.

Are there some extensions that I should be looking for? The Desktop has Authoring Support extensions active, but the Laptop does not.

If you've updated everything, incl. Toast and DiscBurner, then you wouldn't have a problem. But if you haven't, you have answered your own question - remove the authoring support extensions. . .

OK, you have to remove Firewire Authoring Support AND USB Authoring Support, for some reason.
