Ok call me indecisive, but I'm torn between the Boston Acoustics BA635 3 piece (two satellites and a sub) speaker setup, and the Altec Lansing 5 piece (four satellites and a sub)...
Dammit I have to decide quickly, so your opinions are much much much appreciated!
I can get the BA635 for $195AUS and the Altecs for $198AUS...
By the way, please don't suggest anything but those two, and tell me which ones you have experience with...
TIA

Cipher,
Both are respected companies in the audio world. Altec Lansing is somewhat older than Boston Acoustics. If I remember correctly, Altec Lansing designs are mostly "ported," whereas Boston Acoustics are "bass reflex," or "sealed." If this is the case, the Altec Lansings will achieve a higher volume for the same RMS input. (I think they call this "sensitivity"). On the other hand, a 5 speaker setup is harder to integrate seamlessly than a 3. Why not listen to both setups and choose which sounds best to you?

Also, if you get 5 speakers for the same cost as 3, logic would dictate that the 3 would be of higher quality. No?

Go with the BA, altec lansing only makes a few good speaker systems such as their THX rated system and one of their three pieces...

Ok, thanks y'all, I went for the BA's...
The sound they make is really incredible, especially for their size...
Even though the 5 piece Altecs were $50 cheaper than they normally are, they just didn't sound/seem/feel... good, if you know what I mean...
Thanks
