I am a realtor and the software I use requires a proprietary ADB “key.” I want to use it with my new iBook and need an adapter -- is there any consensus on which adapter is most compatible/stable reliable?

Check out the iMate from Griffin Technology (www.griffintechnology.com). That one is supposed to be really good. Handles the data as well as power for ADB devices, as long as it's plugged into a powered USB port.

Have been using the iMate since arrival of my iMac (Feb '00) - has worked flawlessly from the plug in.

I have also been using an iMate, for over a year. Griffin rocks. I've had mine since I ditched the iDock II, and the one at work is more stable than the device that's plugged into it (barcode reader)!
I put in my vote for the iMate.

Has anyone tried using the iMate on an old Mac and new USB devices?

To the best of my knowledge, the iMac only works on new USB machines with older ADB devices, not the other way around.
