Ok. I'm officially putting ATI on my **** list. Damn bastards lied to me (or at least I hope they didn't.)

I bought an ATI Rage PRO AGP card with the ADC connection. I was told by ATI THEMSELVES this would work on my single processor G4. I stick it in, VGA works for my 13" RGB. Stick in my 17" Studio and it doesn't even power up. Nothing.

Looks like there's extra pins in the front of the video card that go nowhere. Maybe power? I hope those are just reduntant cuz I'm about to blow up here and murder someone at ATI.

I called Apple and the tech guy said that AGP is AGP and that it would work.

Can anyone else confirm this? I can't return the video card OR monitor.

You can't just have an AGP slot to get the card to work with a ADC moniter (I am assuming your 17" Studio is ADC). You must also have a small slot at the front to accept those extra pins on the ATI ADC card. It is this connection that supplies the power and usb needed for an ADC moniter. The only G4s that have this ADC AGP slot are the summer 2000 models (those introduced at MacWorld NY). From what you describe, you have a pre-MacWorld NY model and cannot use an ADC moniter.

Ok. So that front pin is JUST power.

I'm going to attempt something. I feal like Frankenstein.

I'm gonna make a power cable that runs from the forward powered pin to the power supply on my computer (connecting via a HD power cable.)

Before I can do this, I would apreciate some help. If anyone know where I can get some tech specs on the card. Such as power consumption, pularity, etc. If it works, I can probably make numerous cables for other people if they're interested.

You won't be able to get power from the 12v hard drive power supply- the ADC needs to supply 28v to the display. I'd take a look at a newer G4 to see where the 28v supply comes from.

any other ideas?
