Automated back-ups of iTunes on external HD?

I've just set up an external HD as a media hub for all my iTunes and iPhoto files. I have a separate HD that I use for backing up those and every other file. Is there any way of setting it up so that every time a new song or photo goes into my media drive, it also automatically creates a copy in my back-up drive?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum. I think of this as a hard drive issue, but maybe it's a software or OSX question?

do you leave your backup drive plugged in all the time? lightning or a fire could fry both. not to mention a thief.
