I was just wondering why Apple hasn't gone to ATA100 on the motherboard, and why I haven't seen any 3rd party cards out there. I was a best buy the other day and I say some Maxtor drives with ATA100 cards included free in the box. Sometimes I'm jealous of the the Wintel platform, but not for windoze itself.

This isn't an answer but ATA-100 is yet another technology that's ahead of itself. For now it's just a marketing gimmick with no real-world benefits. Maybe soon it'll have merit, but don't feel so left out.

I agree, it isn't worth it. The IBM Deskstar is the fastest ATA drive on the market, and it tops out at around a sustained 34MB/s, well within the limit for ATA/66. That drive is also marketed as an ATA/100.
