After adding an additional 128Mb to my iMac I am experiencing problems with my computer freezing up or not shutting down properly when using my scanner or printer. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be the new memory? Should I re-install the scanner/printer software? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, MM

It could be either one, try taking out the new memory without changing anything else and see what happens. What brand is the memory?

Purchased the memory from Crucial. If I turn the computer on first, then the scanner everything works fine. Turn on the scanner first and the computer freezes during start up. After printing from e mail the computer disconnects from the server but will not properly shut down. Works fine from other sources. Thanks for any advice, MM

Try turning off Startup Memory Tests (hold command and option while opening the Memory CP to access this feature). This should solve the crash-at-boot problem when the scanner is are already on.
You definitely should try reinstalling the periphs' software.
Do I understand correctly that printing only causes problems when you print from your email app? in which case it might be a problem with your email software. what email program do you use? you might try increasing its RAM, or reinstalling it as well.

Re-installed the scanner software, then followed your advice and turned off the startup memory test and still my rev.c iMac freezes up if the scanner is on first. Have talked with Crucial (said they will research it) who said contact Apple. Trying to find info in their tech library. Using Netscape and will try your advice regarding my e mail. Will take out the 128 to verify this problem is related. Any other help is greatly appreciated! Thanks again, MM
