Even that most of things I do with my G4 733 is DTP I decided to buy LCD screen. I was just about to buy ASD while I found out offer from Formac-Gallery 1740 with PANTONE ColorVision SPYDER. I am at a loss which one will more meet my demand of colour accuracy. Has somebody personal experience with those 2 LCDs?

Thanks for any answere.

I saw a Formac 1740 hooked up to a G4 tower in France over the Christmas holidays. It looked really great. If you check the specs at the Formac website against the ASD, you will see that the Formac is slightly larger than the Apple LCD and has faster response times, which Formac says helps eliminate ghost images.

I was already pretty convinced that the Formac was the right monitor for me to purchase, and when I saw that they had added the Pantone color calibration package as an option, that was all I needed. I plan to order one in about two weeks.

Please note that before I saw the Formac, I was extremely impressed with the Apple LCD's and I still am. I just think the Formac is a little better.

Than we'll be two, who order them within 2 weeks

At first I was very impressed with Apple LCD too, before that I wasn't even thinking about buying LCD.

Now I am decided for the Gallery Formac and I hope I'll read more positive responses from users here.

Thanks

I too liked the Formec, but I've heard many customer service complaints about them. (Especially here.) That was the deciding factor for me when I purchased the Apple 17" LCD.
- iMac 3.2Ghz 1TB - MacBook Pro 15" Core i7 2.3Ghz / 256SSD (Work laptop)
- PowerMac G5 - Dual 2.0 Ghz, 3GB, Soundsticks!,
- Lenovo Thinkpad T510 (also a work laptop), Win 7 Enterprise, 8GB, 320GB HDD

Well, I said I was going to buy Formac, but my local Comp. dealer persuade me of buying Apple LCD instad of Formac due to bad experience from history and even if I decided for Formac I would have to wait for a long time...

So, right now I am sitting oposit my ne Apple LCD and I love it!
Great colour, sharp text I also played video and everything was smooth (response time is OK)

I desperately had to order new CRT or LCD, my old monitor was relly pain in a.. and I am lucky I got rid of it. Even if Apple announced new 17" LCD in Tokyo, i would have to wait for another month before they get it on shelves and my eyes can't wait so long
