Has anyone tried sharing one Firewire disk from two (or more) iMacs? I would like to use one Firewire disk as a common file source for two iMacs plus one PowerBook.

Are there any alternatives which don't require a server?

I posted that same question a couple months ago. I was told that future FireWire hubs may support this. For now, either move them back and forth, or access over ethernet.

Hi... you can attach it to one of your machines and set that machine up with filesharing turned on. You need a mini hub to connect all of the machines. As long as the machine you have the firewire drive connected to has filesharing enabled and you have set set the firewire drive as shared, you should be all set...
good luck,
dave
