Hi Everyone

I have had a M$ Intelimouse Explorer since Jan 2000 and the past 6 months or so I quite frequently get really jittery feedback. (i.e. the mouse will jump all over the place or work fine then go ape without warning).

Im now using X retail and it seems worse, but it could just be me. Does anyone know if the Intelimouse has a tendency of not working after some time, or maybe a solution to fixing the jitters.

Thanks in advance

James

I had my Intellimouse do this for a couple of reasons:

1. A screen printed mousepad, i.e. one that has a printed picture on it, especially if it's printed on plastic, not cloth. Also, a textured mousepad, i.e. the 3M precise mousing surface, WILL NOT WORK. Also some finely textured cloth does not work.

2. There was the slightest amount of fuzz in the LED hole. Use a camera blower to blow it away.

You could also use a q-tip soaked in rubbing alchohol to clean the little light off.

Dunno if this counts as jittery but I have had occasional problems with my Intellimouse Optical (the small 2 button one not the big explorer version).

Tracking will suddenly go real slow and the red LED will be constantly on. Very slow mouse movements work but try faster and it just goes crazy. Solved by re-plugging.

This happens very occasionally though so it doesn't really bother me that much. I got the mouse plugged to the keyboard of a G4 sawtooth built-in USB port so no hub involved. Don't understand because this only started a few weeks ago and I haven't even installed anything new since January.
