I have just installed a HP 9100 internal cd writer.
I'm using it with Toast and like it really well.
There is one problem though. It seems to burn on 4x with 80min CD's. Really strange. I tried to search hp's site, but that site is just a mess. I can't find any confirmation on this fact.

I haven't tried with Disc burner, since i don't have enough free space to copy the data to CD.

anyone?

That's 80min CD-Rs and not CD-RWs, correct? Data CDs or Audio? Sometimes a burner will default to a more stable speed than what may be the top speed when burning an Audio CD.

I'd try several different brands/dye colors of 80 min CDRs and see if you can find any that burn at 8x. It could be the media itself.

what's the highest speed the CDR's are specced to? that could very well be 4x and thus causing the burning take slower speed...
