new Sony CD Burner

	I have just bought and installed a Sony CRX175A1 CD Burner and burnt CD choosing the Mac os/ PC compatable copy option. The burn was smooth and fast about 3 mins. The problem is that when I went to view the disc, the files took a full 20 minutes to appear on the screen. Also each time I opened one of the copied folders each took an unbearable amount of time to open . I am running Mac os 9.2.1 and am begining to wonder if I should be running under carbon ?
