I just bought an Epson 636U for our 32MB iMac. The scanner seems to work great, but the bundled software is clunky. everything gets saves as a photodeluxe type doc, you have to scroll thru menus to find a way to save as JPEG, etc. The epson TWAIN portion seems to work fine, its the interface with photodeluxe that seems cumbersome. Is there any simpler less feature laden scanner software that I can use that makes it easier to save as alt file types, etc? We don't need bells and whistles and card and calendar makers (those crash anyway...don't know why). Thanks, bob

you might try cheking epson's website for updated drivers, no telling how long that scanner has been out of the factory and setting around in warehouses and stores. For the crashing part, yo may want to increase the memory to the applications by 2 or 3X. I have heard of other scanning software, SilverLining or something like that, but it was fairly expensive AND very full featured....it has been a long time though since I've heard any mention of it.

You might try posting this question over at MacCentral and/or MacFixit forums to see if anyone has any ideas.......
