I have the cheapest and ugliest USB hub I could find at Fry's - 4 ports for $12.99. It works great. The key ingredient? It's powered. My experience is that the passive hubs don't always work, but that the powered ones almost always do.

i am using a belkin usb pocket hub on my imac. it is small and doesnt take up alot of space and has 4 usb ports. it comes with a power supply but as of yet i dont need the power supply. i have a epson 777i printer hooked to it and a iomega zip cdrw and both work fine without the power supply.

I bought the beige "Newpoint" 4-port USB from Costco last month for $30. It's powered and works fine for my (USB-powered) Artec flatbed and (adapter-powered) iPrime film scanners hooked to my Rev/A iMac.

Good Luck, T.

Using the 4 port Macally powered hub - only using two of the ports
and they work fine - so assume they all do.

By all means get powered right up front to eliminate any variables.

I have a D-link 4 port powered hub that I've had for a while and it works great. I use it in powered mode just to avoid power consumption issues. Its made of clear plastic so it goes well with my G4. It has lots of pretty lights on it it too.

I have an interex hub that works great as well. Any hub, as long as it's powered, should work fine. They are all made basically the same way.
