Does anyone here have a new Radeon 7000? I bought one for my G4 to hook up a 2nd and eventually a 3rd monitor to my mac. FYI I bought the PCI version, still ahve a GeForce2 in my AGP slot, and am running dual 533's on 10.1.3 with 640 MB of RAM. What I'm wondering it about the drivers. Basically, I haven't isntalled them yet. I'm afraid to. It works out of the box, and for normal stuff it works no problem. I get very occasional quick defects on my screen like small 16X16 squares that can be erased easily. Also going full screen in games rarely works with games that support it. But the 2nd monitor is a cheap LCD anyway so its not a big issue. The X drivers come with extensions and even thier own control panel. I'm afraid that these thigns are goona cause more problems than they would solve. What do you reccomend? I can easily get by the way I am if i need to. I basically only use the 2nd screen for itunes, AIM, and palettes for graphic stuff, and the occasional web browser, when i wanna surf two sites at once.

I've kinda got the same wuestion so any help would be appreciated. Since installing the radeon card, my system preferences.app quits when I try to open the monitors control panel. Will installing the ATI drivers take care of this. When I do get to the control panel it doesn;t give me any options for the monitor connected to the ATI card.
Thanks
ps. why is the fan on the Radeon card so dang loud!

Well you don't have the same card as me cause mine doesn't have a fan. But i didn't install the drivers and everything worked fine, then I did install the drivers, and everything still works fine. I guess these are the hardships us Apple users must deal with.

As far as I know there only is a PCI Mac 7000 card and, also it does not have a fan. Oh well. I am running it with a large monitor [[19"] with a smaller CRT on the onboard graphics [Rage IIc IIc]. No problems at all as well as a 26" TV hooked up to the TV out as a third monitor. I used the March ATI retail upgrade drivers - all of the displays show the appropriate control panels, nothing quits when it shouldn't. There is a nice acceleration on the monitors hooked to the cards - usual crummy graphics on the monitor hooked up to the unaccelerated onboard video.

Well I installed the drivers from ATI's website yesterday and all is better now. Incase you're wondering, my machine is a G4 933 w/ superdrive and all is well. My Monitors control panel is working right and I have more options for the monitor hooked up to the Radeon card too.
Here is a picture of the box my card came in and a pic of the card WITH a fan on the board. The card is about a year old and the fan has gotten louder with age.
