I have a QPS Quefire 4x8x24, and I was using it with a 350mhz b+w G3 with no problems. 50 PNY disks burned, no coasters. Then, I tried it on my Powerbook (Firewire) and suddenly lots of problems. First, I could only write at 4x, and then I wouldn't get an y error messages, but the disk would be scratchy, with noise on the left channel. So I kinda freaked, but found out about the firewire firmware update for the Powerbook, but that didn't change anything. So I went back to the b+w, and I have the same noise problem.

Is it possible it's from line noise? How can I avoid this? Thanks/

Did you drop it? If it worked on it B&W, then move it to the PB, and have problems, then move back to the B&W, and still have problems?

I didn't drop it, but here's another wierd part of the problem, the static is only on the left stereo channel. Weird. I've gotten the suggestion that it's the cheap disks. I'll ry some gold and see what develops.

Hey,

I'm having the same static issue, left channel: did you ever resolve the problem, or find a cause?

thanks
