Hi all,

I have a Firewire EZQuest Boa 8x8x32 cd burner and it works fine. I'm curious though if its possible to replace that 8x cd burner with something like a yamaha 20x IDE cd writer. From what I can see, the boa looks like its just an 8x IDE cd writer in a firewire enclosure, am I right? Using Toast 5, it detects the drive as a "TEAC" brand.

So if one day, the Boa conks out on me, would it be possible for me to simply open it up, and replace the TEAC with a different cd burner drive? Has anyone done this, particularly with a Boa?

Thanks a lot.

I have an EZQuest 8/4/20 Firewire enclosure and I removed the internal IDE drive and replaced it with a 24X Yamaha CDRW. Didn't work. It was not recognized by Toast 5.0

I emailed EZquest and never received a response. I took the same Yamaha drive and put it into a ADS Tech Pyro Firewire enclosure and it worked fine.

My advice is to try and get EZQuest to answer the question... good luck!
