i finally bought an isight and received it in the mail from apple yesterday. my parents use a pc (win2k, no webcam) and as much as i'd like them to switch over to a mac with a built-in isight, i'm left with this situation for now. they do have an external microphone hooked up to their PC, but no webcam. so my question is, is there any way for them to listen and see me while i just talk to them or even a one-way video feed? i tried using iChat with their computer using AIM 5.9, but i couldn't figure out how to start a videoconference/voice chat/whatever from either my laptop (G4 ibook) or their pc. any advice/help would be appreciated as i move overseas in a few weeks. thanks in advance!

i found that iChat wants only a two-way video conference, it won't do a one-way. You might look into using AIM for the Mac, that might have a one-way. To get a one-way video feed, I found that Yahoo chat works well enough. So each of you get a Yahoo chat account (free) then download Yahoo chat client on both and away you go!

Actually I used my macbook and chatted with a friend on a ibook g4. The ichat program allowed for a one way video chat. So it does work that way. I'm not sure how you would do it using aim though.

It's spotty when doing iChat/AIM with a PC, but it can work, one way too. Guaranteed to work with Yahoo IM (although no mic support)
