I'm buying a new 10GB iPod as soon as I decide on what to inscribe on it, any ideas ?
Once you put your hand in the flame you can never be the same, there's a certain satisfaction in a little bit of pain.

This is ridiculous considering the iPods are all shipped from the same factory in Taiwan anyway!

I'm not planning on replacing my 5GB iPod anytime soon but if I were, I'd have the new one engraved:

F--- THE RIAA!
F--- THE CPCC!

(Note for non-Canadians -- the CPCC is our wonderful copyright board that is trying to get levies in place on blank media, including an extra cost of $21 per GB on MP3 players that use internal drives...)

Sensible idea - "this is the property of Blah - your phone number/zip code"

Silly idea - "I blew $50 on engraving and all I got was this lousy sentence."

Bitter Veteran of the OS Wars idea - "F*ck Micro$oft" (they'll probably censor swearing)

Are you sure about engraving being US only? Maybe that means $49 US dollars, vs. some other currency? I thought I read something about the Japanese engraving depending on the character set, which would indicate to me that you could get it engraved for delivery outside the US.....

Good point Sean, but I wonder. Is it safe to laser engrave an iPod with it's backing in place or does it need to be removed first in order not to fry any of it's electrical components?

I should think the components inside should be ok aslong as its turned off. Might contact apple on that one though, although they might not want to answer, not my fault if I can't affoard it. They are overcharging afterall.
