I plan to buy a Firewire 24x CD-R/W, which seem to be pretty good value right now ($200?) but I'm not sure which one. LaCie (U&I), QPS Que! and TDK veloCd all get good reviews. Does anyone feel there is an obvious best buy among them? Or something else entirely? I'll use the drive for burning music CDs and backing up and maybe a bit of digital video. Thanks!

I've always loved LaCie, and the USB and FireWire connections on it make it very convenient. If I didn't have a SuperDrive, I'd get that so I could burn from the tower or my Lombard PowerBook. I've had other LaCie products over the years and found them to be very, very reliable.

Thanks Paul. Most people seem to have good things to say about LaCie. Only, I did hear that their CD-R/W is very loud...?
