anybody know what apple licensed from pixo? if you go to their site they say:

Pixo is a leading developer of a wireless software platform and services for wireless phone manufacturers, carriers, and content providers. The Pixo software platform integrates Pixo phone software with Internet services, making Web-enabled phones both simple and convenient to use. In turn, Pixo enhances the basic features of today's voice-oriented phones, while supplementing them with new and compelling Internet applications. The Pixo OS Platform included the Pixo OS Platform Applications, Pixo User Interface Builder, Pixo Application Framework, Pixo Toolbox, Pixo Kernel, Pixo Partner Applications, and components such as the Pixo Internet Microbrowser. Pixo is a privately held company headquartered in Cupertino, California. For more information, visit www.pixo.com

As far as I know, they just licensed the embedded Pixo OS. Nothing wrong with that

But who knows what the future will bring? Apple always surprises me. (I sure hope it's a good surprise )

I would doubt very much if Apple used Pixo technology for anything beyond the iPod. They've got enough in house knowledge and power to do just about anything else. It might've been cheaper in the long run for Apple to use Pixo as opposed to bogging down their onsite engineers.

Check out this page. It seems most of the high brass there are ex-Apple.
http://www.pixo.com/about_us/about001.htm

"Paul Mercer, Board Director, Founder.
While at Apple Computer, Paul championed advanced technology for consumer products. Paul developed handheld and pen based computers that ran the Macintosh operating system, and he was a key member of the Newton development team. Paul was also the technical lead for Apple Computer's Macintosh Finder, which is the acclaimed Macintosh look and feel in use by over 20 million customers worldwide. His vision is to add value to consumer electronics devices through advanced software technology that maintains the simplicity of the user experience."

I think we'll see more from these guys... next week maybe.
