I just got a 20GB LaCie external drive for my iBook with hopes of keeping all my iTunes junk on it.

Can I connect the iPod to the external drive with iTunes and still synch as if it were connected directly to the iBook?

yes, i have an external firewire drive connected to my cube, and i connect my iPod through it. the external drive conveniently has a firewire port on the front of the case.

Ha!!! that was my same question (to myself) when yesterday I got a 40GB LACIE studio drive.Yes it works flawlessly.
