I was going to jump on the chance to upgrade my TiBook DVD's drive to the combo drive. It is really cool to think about having an internal CD burner.

However, I got to thinking (always a dangerous thing for me to do)...

Would I ever burn a CD? Not for music. That's why I have my iPod. Archival media? Probably not. I'm a programmer, not a graphic designer, so 250Mb Zip disks are more than adequate (250Mb of code is a lot of code.

I think I may have to buy a big 100Gb external FireWire hard drive instead. That way I can rip most of my CD's to feed my elegant little friend.

Having said that, I may still upgrade. I'm wavering. Is there something I'm missing? It's late, been a long day at work. I'm sure my fellow MacNN'ers will tell me where I've gone wrong, if I have, and where I'm full of sh*t

Thanks,
Mark
