I'm running out of storage space. I'm debating between another external hd or an external dvd burner. I use my Lacie for cloning my system but i'd like to have some more space. I'm leaning towards the dvd burn b/c that what i can make dvd of movies yet also still back up my pics, music, etc. So any recomendations on relatively cheap dvd burner, or should i go w/ another hd?

Thanks

Given the choice, I would personally buy a HD. I find the 4 gig (or whatever it is now) limit to be, well...limiting in what i can back up. I also don't like having to buy more dvds, have stacks of them to sort though, or have to go through them one my one if I would have to restore. You can also use the space as a scratch disk.
However, I also have an external dvd burner (Pioneer I believe, and I'd recommend it), and it is nice to be able to make dvds of family vacations and things of that nature. They may or may not last longer, as well.
I'd buy the HD for flexibility. My $0.02

Go with the DVD burner so you can move backups off-site (mail them to a relative or something).

I'm a big fan of the Pioneer DVR-111D (in beige or black). Grab a decent USB/FW enclosure (any of the top 10), and you're set for $75ish.
